F. スタート直前頃から雨がぱらつく。今季初のウェットレースとなるか。マクラーレン勢はインターミディエイト。メルセデスその他上位勢はソフトを選択。ウイリアムズはサインツがインター、アルボンがソフトとチーム内でも分けてきた。ここまでスタート時のタイヤ選択が分散するのは稀。現地時間16時、フォーメーションラップ開始。週末観客数は36万人との情報。ノリスの無線では、マシンが浮いているような感触とのこと。
Extra F．シグナルがオールレッドとなってからブラックアウトするまで、いつものレースよりもかなり時間が掛かって3秒ほどあったように感じた。リンドブラッドはギアが入らずにスタートできない。マーシャルにより後ろへ押され、マシンはガレージへ。エクストラ・フォーメーションラップが実施された。
１．2度目のブラックアウト。メルセデス2台も悪いスタートではなかったが、ノリスが素晴らしいスタートで1コーナーを制した。1コーナーではアントネッリがラッセルをかわしている。ピアストリはピットインしてミディアムタイヤに。
２．アロンソが12位までジャンプアップ。ノリス、アントネッリ、ラッセル、ハミルトン、フェルスタッペン、ルクレール、ハジャー、コラピント、ローソン、ベアマンのトップ10。
３．ノリスもピットしてミディアムに換えて14位復帰。ピアストリは16位走行。ここでアロンソは10位走行中。雨が上がり、インターミディエートは作戦ミスであったようだ。
５．4位フェルスタッペンがファステストを記録。
６．2位アントネッリがバックストレートからターン13ブレーキングでラッセルに並ぶ、しかしタイヤスモークを上げてオーバーラン。今だトップはラッセル。
９．フェルスタッペンがモトローラ・アドのヘアピンでハミルトンをかわして3位。
１０．トップのラッセルがパープル(ファステスト)。ラッセル、アントネッリ、フェルスタッペン、ハミルトン、ルクレール、ハジャー、コラピント、ローソン、ベアマン、ガスリーのトップ10。
１１．2位アントネッリがファステスト。
１２．ラッセルがファステスト。ノリスがガスリーをかわして9位まで浮上してきた。
１３．ラッセルとアントネッリがヨーヨーバトル。1ラップずっとバトルしながら走行。ピアストリがピットインし、フロントノーズ交換。19位復帰。アルボンがリタイア。ピアストリと接触していた。
１７．最終コーナーからホームストレート、1コーナーでまたもメルセデス2台のバトル。ラッセルは1位譲らず。最終コーナーでのラッセルのカバー、バッテリーパワーの使い方が鋭かった。
１８．2位アントネッリがファステスト。
２０．トップのメルセデス勢が14位アロンソを周回遅れに。アロンソのペースはメルセデスとラップ5秒違う。
２２．遂にアントネッリがラッセルをかわしてトップに。ラッセルはターン10ヘアピンで若干ミスがあり、バックストレートではバックマーカーが絡んで、絶好のタイミングであった。
２４．アルボンとの接触を引き起こしたとして、ピアストリに10秒ペナルティ。アントネッリがヘアピンでオーバーラン。その隙にラッセルがトップ奪還。しかしその後の最終コーナーはアントネッリが強引にラッセルのインを刺した。ただ、オフコース走行のアントネッリはポジションを戻す必要がありそう。
２５．アントネッリの無線では押し出されたのだから戻さなくていい、とのことだが。バックストレートでラッセルに順位を譲るが、ターン13でアントネッリの左フロントとラッセルの右リアが接触しそうな程ホイールトゥホイール。 川井氏解説；シケインは並んで入ったらいけないですよ、本当は。観ている方は楽しいですが。
２６．現在トップはラッセル。 以下、アントネッリ、フェルスタッペン、ハミルトン、ルクレール、ハジャー、コラピント、ローソン、ガスリー、ベアマンのトップ10。
２７．アロンソのマシンがガレージに戻される様子が小さなワイプで伝えられた。
３０．トップ走行中のラッセルがターン11をコースオフ。マシンをサーキット上に停めてリタイア。ステアリングを前方に投げ捨て、マシンを降りた後もグローブを投げ捨てて感情を露わにした。VSC導入。
３１．VSC中にベアマン、ガスリー、サインツ、アントネッリ、フェルスタッペン、ハミルトン、ルクレールなど、続々とピットイン。
３２．フェンス奥に呆然と立ち尽くすラッセルを国際映像が捕らえた。リプレイ映像によると、ハイドロか電気系統のマシントラブルに思われる。メルセデスはPUトラブルを疑っているとのこと。
３３．VSCエンディング。アントネッリ、フェルスタッペン、ハミルトン、ハジャー、ルクレール、コラピント、ローソン、ガスリー、ノリス、サインツのトップ10。 フェラーリがピットでダブルスタッキングしたため、ハジャーがルクレールの前に出ている。
３５．4位ハジャーとルクレールのバトルが激化。バックストレートでミラーを見ながらやんちゃなブロッキングをハジャーが見せたが、ルクレールは無線で大きな事故につながる行為と非難。
３８．3位走行中のハミルトンがファステストをマーク。
３９．トップ走行中のアントネッリがファステスト。
４０．ターン11あたりから狙いすまし、バックストレートに入った瞬間にルクレールがハジャーを捕らえた。ルクレールが4位浮上。 ノリスがギアボックストラブルでマシンを停めてリタイア。リプレイでギアが噛み違うような激しい音と挙動が確認された。
４１．アントネッリがバックマーカー(15位ペレスと14位オコン)について激しく抗議する無線。
４２．アントネッリ、フェルスタッペン、ハミルトン、ルクレール、ハジャー、コラピント、ローソン、ガスリー、サインツ、ベアマンのトップ10。 ペレスがピットへ戻り、リタイア。バイブレーションなどで右サスペンションが折れてしまった模様。
４３．VSC明けは3位ハミルトンと2位フェルスタッペンの7秒あった差が4秒に詰まってきた。LAP35のハジャーのルクレールに対する2度以上方向を変えたブロッキングに対して10秒ペナルティ。ただ、ハジャーは後ろの6位コラピントまで40秒以上差を広げているため、順位変動には影響が無さそう。
４６．VSC導入。ピット出口付近のペレスのデブリ(アームカバー)をマーシャルが回収。直ちにVSC終了。
４７．16位走行中ボッタスに5秒ペナルティ。ピットレーンの速度違反。
４８．3位フェルスタッペンと4位ハミルトンの差が3秒まで縮まる。
４９．レーシングブルズのローソンは7位走行中。フォーメーションラップでリタイアしてしまったリンドブラッドが悔やまれる。 ハミルトン無線：We can do this guys, I’m purchasing!
５１．フェルスタッペンが無線でタイヤの温度が落ちているとアピール。ただ、ペースは自己ベストでこの周はハミルトンより0.3秒速かった。
５２．2位フェルスタッペンの3位ハミルトンの差は2秒。
５３．VSC導入。ターン12のデブリを回収か。ハジャーがピットで10秒ペナルティを消化。ソフトにチェンジして5位復帰。4位ルクレールまで28秒差があるが、捕らえる計算か？
５４．ルクレールがターン14で単独ほぼスピン。マシンが90度スライドしてフロントもロックしていたが、ギリギリ留まってレース復帰。5位ハジャーとの差は18秒まで縮まる。
５６．3位ハミルトンと2位フェルスタッペンの差がとうとう1秒以内。
５７．ターン14チャンピオンズウォールでフェルスタッペンがスライドするリプレイ映像。互いにワールドチャンピオンであるハミルトンとの激しいバトル。
６２．依然続くハミルトンとフェルスタッペンのバトル。ターン14は一撃で進路を予期したフェルスタッペンの見事なブロック。その後ホームストレートからターン1で遂にハミルトンがオーバーテイクして3位。観客の声援がもの凄い。
６３．5位ハジャーにイエローフラッグ無視でストップアンドゴー・ペナルティ。4位ルクレールを追撃中だったが難しくなった。
６４．ハミルトンにかわされた後も4位フェルスタッペンは離されず、1秒以内の差でついていく。
６６．ローソンとガスリーが7位争い。一度ガスリーが前に出たが、2台ともターン13シケインをショートカット。
６７．3位フェルスタッペンが2位ハミルトンにテールトゥノーズ。 フェルスタッペンが1つコーナーでミスをしてギャップが1秒に開いたが、また1秒以内に入った。
６８．アントネッリが初優勝から4連勝。ポールこそカナダGPで逃したものの、信じられない19歳だ。ハミルトンが守り切って2位、カーナンバーと同じくフェルスタッペンが3位でチェッカーを受けて今季初表彰台。

Light rain began to fall just before the start. Could this be the first wet race of the season? The McLarens chose intermediates, while Mercedes and the other leading cars opted for softs. Williams split strategies: Sainz on inters, Albon on softs. It is rare to see tyre choices so divided at the start. At 16:00 local time, the formation lap began. Weekend attendance was reported at 360,000. Norris reported over the radio that the car felt like it was floating.

After all five red lights came on, the blackout seemed to take much longer than usual — around three seconds. Lindblad could not start because the car would not engage gear. Marshals pushed him backwards, and the car was taken into the garage. An extra formation lap was held.

At the second blackout, both Mercedes cars got decent starts, but Norris launched brilliantly and took Turn 1. Antonelli passed Russell at Turn 1. Piastri pitted immediately to switch to medium tyres.

Alonso jumped up to 12th. Top 10: Norris, Antonelli, Russell, Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Hadjar, Colapinto, Lawson, Bearman.

Norris also pitted and switched to mediums, rejoining 14th. Piastri was running 16th. Alonso was now up to 10th. The rain had stopped, and the intermediate tyre choice appeared to have been the wrong strategy.

Antonelli in 2nd drew alongside Russell from the back straight into the braking zone at Turn 13, but locked up with tyre smoke and ran wide. Russell still led.

Verstappen passed Hamilton at the Motorola-advertising hairpin for 3rd.

Russell and Antonelli entered a yo-yo battle, running side by side and fighting for nearly the entire lap. Piastri pitted for a front nose change and rejoined 19th. Albon retired after contact with Piastri.

From the final corner through the home straight and into Turn 1, the Mercedes pair fought again. Russell held the lead. His defensive positioning at the final corner and battery deployment were sharp.

The leading Mercedes cars lapped Alonso in 14th. Alonso’s pace was 5 seconds per lap slower than Mercedes.

Antonelli finally passed Russell for the lead. Russell had made a slight mistake at the Turn 10 hairpin, and a backmarker on the back straight created the perfect opportunity.

Piastri received a 10-second penalty for causing contact with Albon. Antonelli overran the hairpin, allowing Russell to retake the lead. But at the final corner, Antonelli aggressively dived inside Russell. Because Antonelli had gone off track, he seemed likely to have to give the position back.

Antonelli’s radio suggested he did not need to give the place back because he had been pushed off. He then let Russell back through on the back straight, but at Turn 13 they went wheel-to-wheel so closely that Antonelli’s left-front nearly touched Russell’s right-rear.

Race leader Russell ran off at Turn 11, stopped the car on track, and retired. He threw the steering wheel forward, then threw his gloves after climbing out, showing his frustration. VSC deployed.

Leclerc lined up his move from around Turn 11 and caught Hadjar the moment they entered the back straight. Leclerc moved up to 4th. Norris stopped and retired with a gearbox issue. The replay showed violent noise and movement, as if the gears were failing to mesh properly.

Antonelli complained angrily on the radio about backmarkers Pérez in 15th and Ocon in 14th.

After the VSC, the gap between Hamilton in 3rd and Verstappen in 2nd shrank from 7 seconds to 4 seconds. Hadjar received a 10-second penalty for moving more than once while defending against Leclerc on Lap 35. However, Hadjar had more than 40 seconds over Colapinto in 6th, so it likely would not affect his position.

Leclerc nearly spun on his own at Turn 14. The car slid 90 degrees and the front locked, but he somehow held on and rejoined. The gap to Hadjar in 5th shrank to 18 seconds.

The Verstappen-Hamilton battle continued. At Turn 14, Verstappen read the move in a single instant and blocked brilliantly. Then, from the home straight into Turn 1, Hamilton finally overtook him for 3rd. The crowd erupted.
