English Log
1. All of the top three starters get away well, but into Turn 1, Verstappen goes around the outside of the two McLarens — only to run wide and off track. Piastri dives down the inside and takes the lead.
Should Verstappen give the place back? On team radio, he insists he was ahead at the apex and got pushed off.
3. Top 10: Piastri, Verstappen, Norris, Hamilton, Leclerc, Sainz, Alonso, Stroll, Albon, Magnussen.
4. Verstappen receives a team radio from Lambiase telling him to give the position back — and Norris moves up to second.
The replay suggests Verstappen may have had a point; it appears Norris squeezed him left while Piastri, accelerating straight through on the inside, claimed the lead.
9. Russell has climbed to P10.
14. Team radio to Norris: “The race is with Verstappen.” (In other words: don’t fight Piastri too hard.)
Norris keeps his distance and trails Piastri by around 3 seconds, avoiding turbulence.
17. Hamilton pits, triggering the undercut domino. Norris pits shortly after. Verstappen stays out.
18. Piastri comes into the pits.
19. Hamilton sets the fastest lap. Verstappen still hasn’t pitted. Based on current gaps, he would rejoin about 4 seconds behind Hamilton if he pits now.
21. Top 10: Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Russell, Pérez, Gasly.
22. Verstappen and Sainz pit.
24. Leclerc pits.
29. Leclerc sets the fastest lap.
32. The gap between Pérez and Russell is exactly 20 seconds. A very quick stop from Russell could see him emerge ahead.
35. Verstappen and Hamilton go wheel-to-wheel after the Red Bull exits the pits. Verstappen attacks into Turn 2, but runs wide at Turn 3.
36. Top 10: Piastri, Norris, Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Alonso, Stroll, Pérez, Tsunoda.
37. Norris picks up the pace, closing to within 1.5 seconds of Piastri.
Hamilton and Verstappen are locked in a tail-to-nose battle. Verstappen’s car is struggling with balance and turn-in.
38. Leclerc closes in on the back of Verstappen as well.
41. Hamilton and Leclerc pit at the same time.
42. Verstappen radio: “That’s quite impressive how we let ourselves get undercut, and just completely f**k my race.”
Kawai: “He’s criticizing the team strategy — both Hamilton and now Leclerc have undercut him.”
46. Norris pits with fierce urgency, eyeing a chance to retake the lead.
47. Piastri follows in the next lap. The gap was 18 seconds — Norris gets ahead.
Did McLaren delay Piastri’s stop intentionally under team orders, or was it a miscalculation?
49. McLaren radio suggests they’ll orchestrate a swap between Norris and Piastri “at a convenient time.”
Kawai: “McLaren’s radio always sounds a bit theatrical.”
50. Top 10: Norris, Piastri, Hamilton, Leclerc, Verstappen, Sainz, Russell, Pérez, Tsunoda, Alonso.
51. Radio to Piastri: “Once you catch Norris, we’ll switch positions — but don’t lose race time doing it.”
Kawai: “Very democratic!”
52. Verstappen sets the fastest lap — charging at a pace 2 seconds quicker than the top four.
56. Verstappen lines up Leclerc but struggles to pass.
57. Verstappen finally gets the move done into Turn 1 — up to P4.
58. McLaren radios Norris: “Please be gentle, especially in Turn 4 and Turn 11. Think of the tyres… remember every Sunday meeting.”
Kawai: “They’re coddling him like a child.”
60. The gap between Norris and Piastri is 4.4 seconds. Is Norris refusing to switch back?
Yamamoto: “Norris is running — he wants this win. The team messed up by pitting him first.”
62. Kawai: “As the team becomes more competitive, internal miscommunication starts to emerge.”
Verstappen challenges Hamilton — Hamilton defends hard and nearly squeezes him off. Verstappen leaves black tyre marks on the edge of the track but stays in the fight.
63. Verstappen makes another attempt into Turn 1 but rides over Hamilton’s right front with his left rear — goes airborne and runs wide again. He re-joins behind Leclerc.
65. Kawai: “Verstappen is still running, but after that jump and off-track moment, could there be damage? Sainz is closing in too.”
68. After not responding to earlier radio messages, Norris finally lets Piastri through.
69. On the main straight, Norris uses DRS to reel Piastri back in — but doesn’t make the pass.
Tsunoda, on a one-stop, holds P9 with Stroll just 0.9 seconds behind.
70. Piastri holds the lead to the finish, securing a McLaren 1–2.
Both Piastri and Norris celebrate their first-ever F1 victories.
